PURPOSE:To reduce discharge starting voltage or discharge keeping voltage in a surface discharge type PDP. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 30 and 32 and a dielectric 38 are provided on a back plate 40. The electrodes 30 and 32 are electrodes for generating or keeping gas discharge, and plural pairs of the electrodes 30 and 32 are arranged in parallel to fill the spaces between these electrode side parts by a dielectric 38. Another dielectric 36 is provided on the electrodes 30 and 32 and the dielectric 38, and a protective film 42 and a barrier rib 44 are provided in order on the dielectric 36. The capacity between the side parts of the electrodes 30 and 32 and the capacity between the electrodes 30 and 32 and a discharge space can be individually controlled, thereby reducing the dielectric constant of the dielectric 38 or increasing the dielectric constant of the dielectric 36. |
