The invention relates to a stabilisation solvent, to a pharmaceutical composition containing it and to a process for preparing it. According to this invention, a stabilised pharmaceutical composition containing paclitaxel, tenoposide, camptothecin or another antineoplastic agent liable to undergo degradation during storage is obtained using a solvent system having a low content of carboxylate anion, the aforementioned solvent system being a mixture of ethanol and polyoxyethylated castor oil, this oil being treated with an acid or brought into contact with alumina in order to reduce the content of carboxylate anions in the solvent. The low content of carboxylate anions in the solvent affords a prolonged life and smaller amounts of degradation by-products.
