System for identifying different consumers (loads) (8), for example of dental instruments, with respect to an energy supply unit (3), which belongs to a dental treatment station (1) and to which the consumers can be connected respectively via a supply tube (24), having coding means, provided on the supply hose, for identifying the consumer assigned to the supply hose, and having an evaluation circuit (20) which belongs to the energy supply unit, can be connected to the coding means, and after evaluation of the coding causes the energy supply unit to feed the supply hose with the supply media which match the consumers connected thereto in type and amount. Electric connecting lines (32, 33) which are guided through the supply hose as far as the consumer belong to the coding means and are a part of an identification circuit which includes identification switching elements (29, 30, 31) provided in the consumer. The individual consumers are distinguished by identification switching elements which deviate from one another.
