PURPOSE:To efficiently culture marine fine algae stably at a high concentration without containing highly unsaturated fatty acids by culturing, in a medium in the presence of acidic amino acid (salt), etc., marine fine algae capable of producing docosahexaenoic acid. CONSTITUTION:In producing docosahexaenoic acid from algae proliferated by culturing algae belonging to marine fine algae and capable of producing docosahexaenoic acid such as Cryptecodinium conii ATCC 3021, the culture is conducted in a medium in the presence of at least one kind selected from acidic amino acids (salts 2), basic amino acids (salts), amides thereof and imides thereof (e.g. sodium aspartate, sodium glutamate, lysine). |
