PURPOSE: To obtain a catalyst for exhaust gas cleaning having a superior exhaust gas cleaning property and a long used life while preventing deterioration at a high temp. by mixing and dispersing a noble metal catalytic material with a washcoat material beforehand, coating the obtained washcoat slurry on a carrier, drying and calcining. CONSTITUTION: Noble metal (such as Pt) and a composite oxide of perovskite are mixed to prepare a catalytic material. Further, powders of MgO, SiO2 , and Al2 O3 , are mixed at the specified ratio (such as 2:2:5), molded and thereafter calcined to prepare a carrier. Further, the catalytic material and a washcoat material (such as γ-Al2 O3 ) are mixed to prepare a washcoat slurry. The washcoat slurry is coated on the carrier, dried and calcined to prepare a catalyst for exhaust gas. As the result, the gas cleaning performance of the catalyst is improved and simultaneously the used life of the catalyst can be increased by preventing deterioration at a high temp. |
