The invention relates to a DNA sequence which carries the gene coding for the enzyme for fragmentation of N-acetylheparosan and the adjacent sequences permitting its expression. The invention also relates to an enzyme for the fragmentation of N-acetylheparosan originating from this gene, and to the methods of fragmentation of high molecular mass N-acetylheparosan employing this enzyme.
