<p>A transmission system combines a plurality of video images to form a combined image which is encoded and then transmitted as if it contains a single video image. The images may be obtained after transmission by decoding the transmitted signal to obtain the combined image, the individual images of which may then be output as separate video signals. The transmission system requires a lower transmitted overhead than a conventional system, and gives improved speed of access to the video images after transmission, in particular when switching between them.</p> |
