PURPOSE: To provide a color cathode-ray tube and a display device which are used by two or more methods, without causing a disturbing moire action by providing a specific number of opening rows which intersect with a deflection direction of electron beam scanning lines in color selection electrodes, arranged in front of a display screen. CONSTITUTION: At least one electron beam generated from an electron gun is deflected to the deflection direction of the scanning lines by a deflection unit, penetrates the opening rows in color selection electrodes, and is irradiated to a display window which has a luminescent display screen. The number of openings for each row 21 of the color selection electrodes 20 is taken in a range of 690-780 in the color cathode-ray tube. It is preferable that the number of the openings be taken in a range of 705-750 in the display device for PAL or SECAM system and a range of 730-780 for NTSC system. It is also preferable that, while operating, scanning lines 22 be adaptable to the interlaced scanning and the ratio S/av of the number of openings 21 to the number of scanning lines 22 crossing the openings is take as about 4/6 or 5/6. |
