<p>PURPOSE:To burn the downstream side particulate on the periphery of a filter by burning particulate from the upstream end face of a filter and also, stagnating the downstream burning at the center in diametrical direction of the filter during burning propagation period, and then, increasing the intake flow in stages or continuously. CONSTITUTION:The particulate on the upstream end face of a filter 2 ignite by increasing the power to a heater 11 and reducing the intake flow of a blower 13 after passage of first cooling period and preheating period. Since the intake flow is low, the heat balance inclines to the heat radiation side as the burning advances to the downstream of the filter 2, so the temperature drops, and the burning stagnates downstream of the center in diametrical direction of the filter 2, but the middle reaches part of the midstream and the upstream side of the periphery maintains the burning. The quantity of supplied oxygen increases and the burning on the downstream side of the midstream in diametrical direction or on the middle reaches and downstream side of the periphery is accelerated and regeneration can be made quickly and equally for each part by stopping the power supply to the heater 11 after finish of this burning propagation period and increasing the intake flow of the blower 13.</p> |
