CARCINOSTATIC AGENT

PURPOSE:To obtain a carcinostatic agent containing a specific carbostyryl derivative, cytokine, etc., as active components and exhibiting strong action to suppress the proliferation of cancer cell. CONSTITUTION:This carcinostatic agent contains, as active components, (A) a compound selected from (i) a carbostyryl derivative of formula I [R is a (substituted)benzoyl], (ii) a carbostyryl derivative of formula II [R<5> is a (substituted)phenyl-lower alkyl, benzoyl or naphthoyl; R<6> is a (lower alkoxy- containing) benzoyl], (iii) a carbostyryl derivative of formula III (R<7> is OH, amino, a lower alkoxy, etc.; R<8> is H or a lower alkyl; R<9> is H), (iv) a carbostyryl derivative of formula IV [R<13> is a phenyl-lower alkyl; R<14> is O-A-R<15> (A is a lower alkylene; R<15> is group of formula V)], (v) 6-[4-(3,4- dimethoxybenzoyl)-1-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrazyl]-3,4-dihydrocarbostyryl and (vi) 7-methoxy-2-oxo-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-benzoazepine and (B) a cytokine and/or a retinoid.
