<p>A composite foam block of polyurethane, for use as a shock absorber when transporting heavy goods in railway waggons, comprises filler material and foamed binding agent; the filler has a max. grain size of 6mm and the majority of the weight of the block comprises ether-based polyurethane, a smaller proportion comprising ester-based polyurethane. Pref., the polyurethane particles have a density of 0.02-0.07. The block may be used under and alongside heavy transported objects, esp. being nailed to the waggon wall. Due to the small grain size, the material possesses virtually the same mechanical properties in all directions; so that orientation of the block is unimportant.</p> |
