HEAT-BONDABLE WOVEN OR KNITTED FABRIC

A heat-bondable woven or knitted fabric which can be readily heat-bonded without the necessity for sewing and using any adhesive. The fabric is made from two polymers different from each other in melting point by at least 20 DEG C, i.e., 50D-24F polyester yarns (m.p.: 250 DEG C) as the warp (1) and 50D-24F/75D-24F polypropylene yarns (m.p.: 160 DEG C) as the weft (2). When the bonding sites are pressed at a temperature of above 160 DEG C but below 250 DEG C, the polyester yarns remain intact, while the polypropylene yarns melt to serve as an adhesive.
