METHOD FOR THE CREATION OF DITHER MATRICES

Described is a method for producing a dither matrix (26). The method comprises the steps of creating an array of dots and dividing the array into a plurality of regions each having a plurality of dots. Borders (27) of each region are then altered to have continuous irregular boundaries. Dither values (28) are then assigned to each region. Preferably, further processing is then carried out to the dots within each region (29) so that each region forms a pseudo clustered dot dither matrix. Further steps can be carried out so as to "invert" the clustered dots.
