PURPOSE:To detect the extreme value in an image by one scanning. CONSTITUTION:An image pickup device 1, an A/D converter 2, which digitizes the image signal from the image pickup device 1, a frame memory 3 for storing the digital image, a binarizer 4, which selects the segment in a specified region from the image data stored in the frame memory 3 and performs averaging with an average-value filter, and a maximum-value detector 5, which detects the maximum value at the noted point and the vicinity thereof based on the digital data, are provided. Furthermore, an extreme-value judging device 6, which specifies the noted point as the maximum value when the coordinates of the maximum value detected with the maximum value detector 5 are equal to the noted point (or when the coordinates of the center of gravity are equal to the noted point when there are a plurality of the maximum values) and outputs the coordinates, is provided. This apparatus is constituted of these carts. |
