PURPOSE:To obtain a cyan sensor which can detect cyan instantaneously and is simple and highly reliable, by combining a bioreactor of aerobic microorganism with an oxygen electrode. CONSTITUTION:As for aerobic microorganism to be used for a bioreactor, yeast is advisable in terms of safety. As for a carrier for fixing the microorganism, a non-water-soluble and porous one, e.g. an acetyl cellulose film, is used and a microorganism-carrying film prepared is fixed as the bioreactor on a gas permeable film of a diaphragm type oxygen electrode. A cyan sensor is constructed of this bioreactor and the diaphragm type oxygen electrode combined together. Prior to the use, the sensor is immersed in a glucose solution. Using glucose as a source of nutrition, the yeast activates respiration and the level of the respiration becomes steady. A current flowing through the oxygen electrode lessens gradually and takes a steady value. In the case when cyan is present, the microorganism becomes inactive or extinct due to impediment of the respiration, the current value is thereby lessened and the presence of the cyan can be known therefrom instantaneously. |
