The invention relates to a vane pump, in particular for viscous media, for example concrete, consisting of a pump casing which accommodates a rotor with vanes which are also radially movable, having a delivery section for the medium between the inlet opening and the outlet opening, a return section between the outlet opening and the inlet opening, and curved paths in the area of the inlet and outlet opening for guiding the vanes from the delivery section to the return section and vice versa. With the aim of avoiding blocking of the rotor, the vanes (21 to 24 and 21' to 24') are stepped at least in sections in their head area on the side lying at the front in the direction of movement relative to their vane guide (211, 221, 231, 241) in the basic rotor body (20), and the boundary edges, directed against the direction of movement of the rotor (2), of inlet opening (13) and outlet opening (14) are designed as wipers (132, 142). <IMAGE>
