<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a new tetrahydrophthalimide derivative in which some thereof is capable of manifesting excellent selectivity between crops and weeds, having excellent herbicidal effects and useful as a herbicide. CONSTITUTION:This tetrahydrophthalimide derivative is expressed by formula I [X is H or a halogen; Y is a halogen; Z is O or S; R<1> is H or an alkyl; R<2> is expressed by formula II (R<3> and R<4> are each H, an alkyl, a cycloalkyl, benzyl, or R<3> and R<4> are bound to represent an alkylene) or formula III (R<5> and R<6> are each H, an alkyls or R<5> and R<6> are bound to represent an alkylene), with the proviso that R<2> is expressed by formula II when Z is O], e.g. 2-[5-(N,N- diethylaminooxycarbonylmethylthio)-4-chloro-2-fluorophenyl]-4,5,6,7-te trahydro-2H- isoindol-1,3-dione. The compound expressed by formula I is obtained by reacting a compound expressed by formula IV with an acid halongenating agent or an active esterifying agent and then subsequently reacting the resultant compound with a compound expressed by formula V or VI.</p> |
