CATALYST FOR SULPHIDE IONS OXIDATION TO SULPHUR ELEMENT IN AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS

The catalyst is used for the treatment of waste waters in industry and highly toxic sulphide ions at temperature range from 20 to 90°C and sulphide ion concentration under 20 g/l (such as Na2S). The catalyst has great catalytic activity, high mechanical and chemical resistance under conditions of reactions, it contains accessible active components and is easily manufactured. It contains active component - nickel (II) oxide, from 10 to 40 wt.%, applied on activated carbon, promoted by vanadium (II) oxide, from 1 to 10 wt.%, or molybdenum (VI) oxide, from 1 to 10 wt.%, the active component being stabilized by a rubber matrix of latex vulcanisate in which it is dispersed.
