A temperature transmitter has a metallic sensor housing (1) with a base (2), on which there are seated an insulation (3), a contact plate (4) and, on this, a measuring element (5) responding to temperature. The contact plate (4) is designed as a metal fabric and therefore allows heat conducting oil, provided in the sensor housing (1), to pass as far as the lower end face of the measuring element (5). <IMAGE>
