Device for handling sleeves on cylinders

In order to make it possible to change sleeves, such as blankets or half-tone sleeves, from a printing unit, with a paper web remaining inserted, a sleeve-gripping system 27 to 30 is respectively assigned to each cylinder 22 for automatically sliding the respective sleeve 24 axially in the printing unit. Jaws 25, 26 are retracted from one end of the cylinder 22 to leave it supported in cantilever fashion. The sleeve is held by a friction element 28 entraining the sleeve as it is moved by an actuator 29 between two grooves 31 and 32. Meanwhile the paper web is lifted off the relevant cylinder 22 by another actuator (6 or 7, Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
