Disclosed is a portable electric power drill (11) having a rotatable cylindrical magazine (19) within the drill housing (13) for storing a tool bit element (73) in each of its plural bores (67), the magazine (19) being rotatable to bring a selected magazine bore (67) in alignment with the central bore (27) of a chuck assembly (15) at the front of the drill (11). A flexible cable (25) is slidable by hand between forward and rearward positions to eject a tool bit element (73) from the magazine (19) to the chuck (15) and to return a tool bit (73) from the chuck (15) to the magazine (19), and the drill (11) includes a mechanism (23) to allow the chuck (15) to be tightened and loosened without the use of a chuck key, or without having to otherwise manually grasp the chuck (15) or associated rotatable parts. |
