<p>Cutting apparatus for cutting through a number of relatively complex sections, such as rail (2), includes a support frame (16) able to be clamped to the rail by means of a toggle clamp (24) including a clamp bar (26). The apparatus also includes a cutting torch (10) held in a bearing assembly (32) mounted to a support arm (38) which is pivoted to a shaft (40). Transmission thereto from a crank handle (46) being through a gearbox/bearing unit (42) mounted on the frame (16).
<??>Demountably secured to the frame (16) is a cam plate (48) in which a cam groove or slot (52) guides a cam follower (54) connected to the torch (10). The cam plate (48) determines the axial distance between the torch tip (14) and the rail as the handle (46) is rotated to cause the torch (10) to make the cut. </p> |
