PURPOSE:To provide a device for accurately discriminating type of vehicle corresponding to the variation of type of vehicles. CONSTITUTION:The device is provided with a detection means 7 detecting the arrival of the enterring vehicle, image pickup means successively picking up the image of vehicle including the side shape of the enterring vehicle, picture collecting means 1, 2 collecting at least two screens of picture obtained by the image pickup means by time difference, and processing means 2 having the 1st function obtaining the difference of the collected pictures and extracting the contour from the differential picture and the 2nd function which computes the vehicle characteristic information including the characteristic of the area and contour of the vehicle from the contour information and discriminates the type of vehicle based on the obtained vehicle characteristic information and the vehicle characteristic information of various vehicles prepared in advance. |
