PURPOSE:To improve the security of a medium by ciphering security management information and recording it to a portable storage medium such as a magnetic tape, a cartridge magnetic tape or a floppy disk so as to make access control to the medium in terms of the software in addition to the physical and mechanical protect. CONSTITUTION:The device is made up of a portable storage medium 5 storing medium security management information to a header part of a portable storage medium such as a magnetic tape, a cartridge magnetic tape or a floppy disk, a non-portable storage device 3 such as a magnetic disk, a display device 4, an input device 2 and a processing unit 1 provided with a security management means 1-1. Furthermore, the security management means 1-1 is characterized to have a ciphering module and a decoding/management information check module. |
