PURPOSE: To provide a method and device for power control in a video subsystem so as to save power during normal operation without replacing an existing hardware. CONSTITUTION: The efficient method and device for saving power during the normal operation of the video subsystem 24 within both portable and not- portable computers without replacing the conventional hardware is disclosed by providing a method and device turning off a subsystem circuit at the time of unnecessity or not-using. Relating to this method, the using power is reduced by respectively and dynamically disconnects an unused circuit between the blankings of a display 26, an unused circuit depending on the operation mode of a text or graphic, an unused circuit depending on the type of color or monochromatic display 26, an unused circuit depending on LCD or CRT and an unused circuit in the middle of using suspension.
