PURPOSE:To provide a disk array device which performs efficient file management to realize the quick access in the RAID system of portable mediums (optical disks). CONSTITUTION:Plural reader/writers 6 to 8 and 201 to 205 which store data in storage mediums and read data stored in storage mediums are provided. In accordance with the access frequency based on the inputted data volume or the data read request, discriminating devices 2 and 52 discriminate whether data should be stored distributedly or centralizedly. First storage devices 201 to 205 where data is distributedly stored based on the discrimination result and second storage devices 201 to 205 where data is centralizedly stored based on it are provided.
