The device is intended for instructing personnel responsible for aiming guns and similar artillery pieces. It comprises at its lower part a support (1) serving as a base intended to stand on a substantially flat and horizontal surface, this support (1) carrying at its top part an elongated chassis (2) comprising at one of its ends a plate able to receive a goniometer (3) similar to those equipping the guns and used for the directional aiming of the barrel of these guns, and at the other end with a plate able to receive an elevating device (4) similar to those equipping the guns, the elongated chassis (2) furthermore carries, substantially at its centre, a device (6) symbolising the visual line of sight of the barrel of a gun. The chassis (2) is connected to the top part of the support (1) on the one hand by means (7) comprising two mutually perpendicular rotational axes making it possible to aim, in elevation and direction, the device (6) symbolising the barrel oriented perpendicular to the elevating axis and, on the other hand, by means (8) making it possible to modify the inclination of the said elevating axis with respect to a horizontal plane, that is to say to modify the inclination of a gun or of an artillery piece.
