PURPOSE:To obviate a separate installation of hydraulic mechanism, etc. for operation and simplify the structures of a head and a machine tool side by utilizing feeding pressure of a cooling liquid for the diameter increasing operation of a grinding wheel for pressing the grinding wheel against the inner face of the hole of a workpiece. CONSTITUTION:At the time of a honing operation, the linking portion of a head body 1 is linked to the rotary main spindle 3a of a machine tool and, prior to the operation, a pressing shaft body 5 is pressed in a head base body side direction by means of the resilient pressure of a spring 9 and a grinding wheel 4 is in the defined minimum caliber condition. In carrying out the operation, as a cooling liquid is fed under pressure to the cooling liquid introducing passage 11d of the head body, the pressing shaft body 5 is moved in the end side direction of the body against the energization of the spring 9 by the pressure of the cooling liquid applied to the pressure receiving portion thereof. Due to the sliding contact between taper portions 40, 50 accompanying this, the diameter of the grinding wheel 4 is increased and the projecting quantities of band-shaped projecting portions 4b which are projected out from between holding rods are uniformly increased, while discharging the cooling liquid through the pressure receiving portion toward the polishing face of the top faces of the band-shaped projecting portions of the grinding wheel. |
