Technical problem: Improvement of the viewability of the cervix and the vagina which is frequently inadequate with the currently used devices in which two leaves are vertically spread with a hinge. Solution to the problem: The vaginal speculum brings about a considerable improvement of the viewability of the area to be examined in that the upper leaf is divided and can be spread horizontally and vertically, so that V-shaped spreading is achieved.
