摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To ameliorate the degradation in transmittance and to provide the liquid crystal display having a high opening rate by constituting a source electrodes so as to overlap on a pixel electrode and forming this electrode so as to constitute a part or the whole of the light shielding body of the liquid crystal panel. CONSTITUTION:The source electrode of the liquid crystal panel is so constituted as to overlap on the pixel electrode and the liquid crystal panel is provided with the function of a black matrix by this source electrode. Namely, the source electrode 3S is overlapped on the pixel electrode 4 as a design pattern of an array substrate 6 of a thin film transistor. As to light shielding of the part along the gate electrode 3G of the pixel, this part is made correspondent to the black matrix of a counter substrate at need. Driving (IH inversion driving) by which the polarities of the image signal applied by the source electrode 3S are inverted from the potential of the counter electrode at every timing of the scanning signal given by a scanning electrode is adopted as the method for driving this liquid crystal panel. The generation of tailing is obviated if the panel is constituted in such a manner.</p>
