PURPOSE:To normalize the data in a single instruction cycle and also to perform the matching of digits of the normalized data in a single instruction cycle by storing the shift extent for a digital computer which automatically extracts a shift extent when a normalizing instruction is carried out and performs a fixed fractional operation to carry out an optional shift based on the shift extent. CONSTITUTION:A data normalizing device is provided with a code deciding part 13a which decides the code of the supplied data, a code converting part 13b which converts the code of the data based on the deciding result of the part 13a, an encoder 13c which calculates a shift extent of the data, a shift extent calculating/storing part 13 consisting of an adverse shift extent calculating part 13d which calculates an adverse shift extent from the shift extent calculated by the encoder 13c and a 2nd data register 13e which stores the adverse shift extent, and a barrel shifter 12 which can shift the data by an optional extent. In such a constitution, the data are normalized in a single instruction cycle. |
