PURPOSE:To provide cemented carbide optimum as the stock for a cutting tool and a wear resistant sliding tool coated with a hard carbon film excellent in adhesion to a base metal of cemented carbide, to provide hard carbon film- coated cemented carbide and to provide a tool applying the same cemented carbide. CONSTITUTION:This cemented carbide is a one in which, in the surface layer, substantially WC grains only or components other than iron group metals and WC grains only are exposed, furthermore, (a) the average grain diameter of the WC grains on the surface layer is larger than the average grain diometer of WC grains at the inside and/or (b) the hardness of the surface is higher than that at the inside. This cemented carbide itself is used as the stock for a tool, or the cemented carbide is used as a base metal, and the surface of the base metal is coated with a hard carbon film. |
