The sorting and stacking system is provided in board allocation devices having rip saws and at least two cross-cutting saws, each cross-cutting saw being assigned a delivery table, and the system having a plurality of transport tracks leading to stacking appliances. The first cross-cutting saw (1) is followed by a distributor table (11). A distributor trolley (12) movable transversely to the run-through direction of the workpieces of the distributor table (11) can be advanced alternately laterally to the distributor table (11) and to the delivery table (5) of the second cross-cutting saw (2). The delivery sides of the distributor table (11) and distributor trolley (12) are each followed by a reception table (13, 14). The transport tracks (19, 20, 21, 22) leading to the stacking appliances (23, 24, 25, 26) are each preceded by a reception table (15, 16, 17, 18). The supporting planes of the reception tables (13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18) and those of the cross-conveyors (49, 50, 51, 52) are raisable and lowerable relative to one another. The two reception tables (13, 14) of the distributor table (11) and distributor trolley (12) and the reception table (15) of the following first transport track (19) possess a common cross-conveyor (49).
