Method for severing tubes

The proposed severing method for tubes made of meltable, inorganic material uses an incipient-melting process on the outer skin of the tube, with subsequent sudden cooling of this tube region, which leads to a stress-related change in structure in the tube wall, and with subsequent application of force approximately perpendicularly to the tube axis in the region of the altered structure, by means of which a fracture severing of the tube transversely to its axis is brought about, and if necessary with a second application of force in the direction of the tube axis for the purpose of removing the severed tube piece.
