The invention relates to a control device, especially for a non-linear process (2) varying in time, with a first controller (1), especially a linear PID controller, which can be changed over via a switching input between "track" and "control", and with a second controller (4), preferably a fuzzy controller. One output of the second controller (4) is taken to the track input of the first controller (1) and a switching signal (S) is issued at a further output which determines the operating mode of the first controller (1). The invention is applied to process automation.
