METHOD AND EQUIPMENT FOR TRANSMISSION OF SIGNAL

PURPOSE: To provide a transmitter and method for transmitting input AC signals through an optical transmission line without using any carrier and reproducing input signals at a remote place. CONSTITUTION: An optical signal transmitter 16 which generates output optical signals corresponding to input signals having such a characteristic that changes with time is provided with an electrooptic transmitting element 22 which generates output optical signals having various frequencies and a driving circuit 34 which drives the element 22 in accordance with the input signals upon receiving the input signals. The element 22 is driven to generate output optical signals having such a frequency that changes with time correspondingly to the variation characteristic of the input signals. All frequencies of the output optical signals exceed the frequencies of the optical signals generated from the element 22 when no input signal exists. A device which reproduces input audio signals at a remote place is incorporated with an optical signal transmitter 16, an optical fiber transmission line 24, and an optical signal receiver 36.
