The invention relates to a circuit arrangement for pulse propagation time measurement, consisting of a radiation detector, a preamplifier, a comparator, a delay element and a digital output stage which receives optical direct signals and reflex signals of unknown amplitude, converts them into electrical signals, amplifies them and forms digital output signals by means of comparison, and passes them onto the digital output stage which uses the trigger edges of the digital output signals to determine the propagation time of the reflex signals. Time separation between, on the one hand, the reception and the preamplification and, on the other hand, the supply of the digital output signals to the output stage by a delay element avoids any switching interference being fed back onto the areas of the electrical signal which are relevant for the comparison, which enables precise determination of the timing of the trigger edges. <IMAGE>
