Process for the preparation of halogen-substituted pyridines

Halogen-substituted pyridines are prepared from the corresponding amino-substituted pyridines in a particularly advantageous manner by carrying out the reaction with hydrogen halide in a salt melt at 250 to 400 DEG C while keeping the concentration of amino-substituted pyridines in the salt melt at below 5% by weight.
