PURPOSE:To reduce the amount of data and the capacity of a work area by dividing image data into plural segments, comprising each segment of a representative point position and raster data in the segment, and performing position switching processing in segment unit. CONSTITUTION:Drawing data 11 is divided into the plural segments 12. Information required for the specification of each segment 12 is comprised of the coordinate of a representative point P and run-length data in the segment 12. Also, the runlength data in each segment 12 can be expressed in eight bits by setting the size of each segment 12 at the one of, for example, around 256 lines X256 dots. The coordinate of the representative point of the segment 12 is varied from P1(X1, Y1) to P2(X2, Y2) by rotating the drawing data 11 by 90 deg., and the direction of the runlength in the segment 12 is varied by 90 deg., however, each segment 12 can be processed independently. |
