PURPOSE:To make hardware small in scale, and to reduce a manufacturing cost by converting a gradation picture into a dot picture, and executing collation by using a standard pattern. CONSTITUTION:A dot picture generating part 14 inputs the gradation picture data from an A/D converter 11, operates a binarization processing by using an error diffusing method, and generates the dot picture. Each correlation arithmetic part 15 in a collation processing part 10 scans the dot picture by a mask, converts the picture in the mask into the gradation picture, and operates pattern matching with each standard pattern. Each peak hold circuit 16 outputs the peak value of a correlation value expressing the degree of matching of the pattern to a CPU 17, and the CPU 17 judges whether or not a picture pattern matched with any standard pattern is present in the gradation picture from those input data. |
