PURPOSE:To obtain an ink jet recording apparatus equipped with a recovery processing device capable of certainly performing the sucking operation of a tube pump even when the wall thickness of a tube is not uniform. CONSTITUTION:A recovery processing device for keeping or recovering the emission state of an ink jet head by forcibly discharging ink from the ink emitting orifices of the ink jet head through a cap and a tube 503 is provided. A base holds the tube 503 during a period of a specific distance and, at the time of forcible emission for recovery, the tube 503 held to the base 504 is pressed to the base by a press member 505 and deformed so as not to leave a gap in the pressed part of the tube 503. A drive device allows the press member to move in an ink discharge end direction along the tube 503 in such a state that the tube 503 is deformed by the press member. At the time of pressing and movement, a press member holding device follows the thickness of the deformed tube 503 to incline the press member in the cross-sectional surface direction of the tube so as to averagely press the tube 503 by the press member. |
