<p>In a ferrule (3) having integral external flanges (5a) for engagement with jaws in a pressing or crimping tool (not shown) used for crimping the ferrule around an electric cable (1), the main novel feature is that the external shape of the flanges (5) is non-circular, e.g. hexagonal as shown, in substantial conformance to the shape of said pressing-tool jaws. With this arrangement, the circular internal shape (4) of the ferrule (3) is maintained substantially unaltered except for the diameter, with the result that the ferrule (3) will fit around the cable (1) in a fluid-tight manner, thus in outside installations preventing rainwater from penetrating into the ferrule (3).</p> |
