An adhesion strengthening agent for epoxy resins comprising ionically cross-linked resin particles prepared by adding mono- or divalent metal cations to copolymer resin particles composed of a core component and a shell component in a weight ratio of 5/1 to 1/4, wherein the core component comprises a polymer having a glass transition point of -30 DEG C or below and composed of a diene monomer and optionally a cross-linking monomer, while the shell component comprises a copolymer having a glass transition point of 70 DEG C or above and composed of 100 parts by weight of a (meth)acrylate monomer and 0.01-20 parts by weight of a C3-C8 radical-polymerizable unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer having a free carboxyl group. A composition comprising 100 parts by weight of an epoxy resin, 15-60 parts by weight of the strengthening agent and 3-30 parts by weight of a heat-activable curing agent is useful bonding automobile structural parts.
