OPTICAL CONNECTOR AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To enable surface packaging of optical system constituting parts by transmitting the light information on light input and output surface or light conversion surface through a substrate to the other light input and output surface or light conversion surface via two elements and one lens. CONSTITUTION:A semiconductor array 81 which is one example of the optical device is surface packaged and fixed onto the surface on the side opposite to the surface formed with the vertical grooves of the glass substrate 11 integrated by adhesion. The ray emitted from this array 81 is first passed through the glass substrate 11 in its perpendicular direction and is then reflected by the 45 deg. reflection surface of a prism 61, is changed in its progressing direction 90 deg. and is made incident on an SML 21. Further, this ray passes a spacer glass 14 and an SML 22 and is then reflected by the 45 deg. reflection surface of a prism 62 and arrives the surface of the glass substrate 11 by passing the substrate. The ray is made incident on a reflection type spatial optical modulation device 82 surface packaged in this position. The light emitting surface (light output surface) of the array 81 and the incident surface (light conversion surface) of the device 82 are arranged in a relation of the unmagnification image forming planes conjugated with each other.
