PURPOSE:To simply position a cap to a head with high accuracy by a method wherein a capping means for sealing ink delivery ports is provided with an equalizing mechanism to the head, and the equalizing mechanism is brought into/out of regulation. CONSTITUTION:When clogging occurring in delivery ports of a recording head is to be eliminated, the head containing a distributor 19 is brought to a stop at a home position just above a cap 21. By rotating a pump 26 in a direction F, a cap lever 23 is moved in a direction D through a lever 27. At this time, a positioning pin 23g and a positioning pin 22d are respectively guided along a slot 29a and a guide part 29c to move up the cap 21. The cap 21 is abutted against a front plate 20 of the head to seal the delivery ports. By acting a suction force of the pump 26 in this state, ink is forcibly discharged out of the delivery ports, and clogging is eliminated. |
