PURPOSE:To improve the utilization factor of light source light in a liquid crystal projector device and to make a projected picture bright. CONSTITUTION:A light beam from a light source lamp 1 and the light source light beam reflected by a reflection mirror 2 are condensed by a condensing lens 3. Plural strip-like cold mirrors 5 long sideways are placed on a pedestal 4 set at a necessary angle against the optical axis of the light source light beam, and circular luminous flux light from the lens 3 is reflected by the cold mirror group. By such reflection, the light beam from the light source 1 is converged to have a shape corresponding to the shape of the incident surface of a polarizing beam splitter 6, changed to a luminous flux having the shape of the incident surface of a liquid crystal display board incorporated in a projector main body 7 by the beam splitter 6, changed to a linearly polarized light beam by a 1/2 wavelength plate, and made incident on the liquid crystal display board. The light being a picture formed by the liquid crystal display board is projected to a screen by a projection lens 8. |
