PURPOSE:To prevent the dielectric strength of cooling liquid from lowering by decreasing the cooling liquid supply for a superconductive magnetic shield body and to avoid the operational lag upon occurrence of abnormality, e.g. ground fault, by preventing occurrence of operational loss during normal operation. CONSTITUTION:The magnetically shielded superconductive current limiter is manufactured by winding a coil 12 around the tubular body 11 of superconductive magnetic shield and then fitting the tubular body 11 over a ferrite core 13. The coil 12 is connected is connected in series between a transmission system, i.e., a transmission line, and a circuit breaker. The coil 12 is connected in parallel with a resistor. Current flowing into the coil 12 is shunted to the resistor and the heat generated from the resistive component of the coil 12 is reduced. Furthermore, the ferrite core 13 reduces eddy current loss thus reducing the heat caused by eddy current loss. Consequently, the cooling liquid supply required for bringing the magnetic shield into superconductive state can be decreased while preventing the dielectric strength of cooling liquid from lowering. |
