PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer recording sheet free of double feeding or formation of voids in transferred images and capable of giving high-density beautiful recorded images, by causing an intermediate layer to comprise microcapsules containing therein a compound acting as a plasticizer for an image-receiving layer. CONSTITUTION:An intermediate layer comprises microcapsules containing therein a compound (core substance) acting as a plasticizer for an image-receiving layer, in a thermal transfer recording sheet comprising the intermediate layer and the image-receiving layer sequentially provided on a base. It is not necessary for capsule walls of the microcapsules to be melted when being heated, but it is requisite that the capsule walls have such a thermal permeability as to permit the core substance to exude therethrough when being heated. It is desirable to control the average particle diameter of the microcapsules to be not more than 10mum, preferably, not more than about 5mum. With the core substance- containing microcapsules thus incorporated in the intermediate layer, transfer density is enhanced. |
