PURPOSE:To start an ultrasonic motor without applying a high voltage to the drive control device of an actuator even if a vibrator and a traveling element are adhered by generating a vibration mode which is different from that for generating the vibration element on steady operation when starting an oscillatory wave actuator. CONSTITUTION:When starting an oscillatory wave actuator or rapidly decelerating the actuator or operating the actuator at a low speed, a vibrator 1 is exited so that the vibration of the vibrator 1 of the actuator approaches the resonance frequency of a mode which is different from that of vibration used for normal drive, thus achieving starting (or continuation of traveling of a traveling element 2) even if adhesion force is generated between the vibrator 1 and the traveling element 2. Therefore, even if the vibrator 1 and the traveling element 2 of the actuator are adhered, a ultrasonic motor 10 can be started without applying a high voltage to the drive control device of the actuator. |
