摘要 PURPOSE:To perform distance measurement in a wide range by providing a light receiving means for monitoring, outputting a detected signal when the integrated value of the stored charge in the relevant light receiving means exceeds a detection level subjected to comparison, resetting an integration circuit, again performing the comparison and storing the charge in a line sensor until a number-of-times detecting signal corresponding to the amplification factor, being previously set, of the output of the line sensor is outputted, in a distance measuring instrument using a charge storing type line sensor. CONSTITUTION:In a driving control circuit 11a, a sensor driving signal is inputted to a line sensor 8, an amplification factor selecting signal to an amplifier circuit 11c, a reset signal to an integration circuit 11b, respectively, the integrated value of the output of a light receiving means 7 for monitoring is compared with a detection level by means of a level detecting circuit 11e and a detected signal LV is inputted to the driving control circuit 11a. When the selected amplification factor is 1/M times of the maximum amplification factor G0, resetting of the integration circuit is repeated until the detected signal LV is outputted M times, the storage of charge of the line sensor is finished by the M-th detected signal LV and an image signal is amplified with an amplification factor G0/M.
